Job Summary

    The Infrastructure Engineer II provides server management, virtualization, storage administration, and data center management. SSE II generally supports large-scale systems with high criticality to the business. The ideal candidate will want to be challenged with new technology, have a detailed understanding of virtualization, and have the vision to build improved server infrastructure. 

    Job Responsibilities

    • Design, manage, and direct (as needed) physical and virtual infrastructure support.
    • Craft, manage, and direct (as needed) support of technology assigned as a primary subject matter expert(SME).
    • Evaluate, customize, and maintain technology assigned as a primary subject matter expert(SME).
    • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and critical processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
    • Supervise and evaluate operating efficiency, server performance, bandwidth usage, and error logs to identify and accurately correct problems as they arise.
    • Respond to issues and problems with proven engineering solutions that align with interpersonal initiatives and strategies.
    • Analyze information systems problems accurately and resolve problem areas while maintaining records, inventories, and user documentation.
    • Review, evaluate, and recommend new or upgraded systems software packages and related hardware based on established and emerging standards.
    • Participate in a geographically dispersed 24 x 7 support organization. This includes on-call rotation duty.
    • Installs configures, and upgrades systems such as supports Infrastructure or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.
    • Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as needed.

    Key Skills

    • Extensive VMware experience and skills are required. VMware virtual infrastructure implementation and ongoing management, including technologies such as vCenter, vMotion, HA, DRS, and FT with 20+ host clusters.
    • Sophisticated level knowledge of the platform, Windows server operating systems, and supporting protocols, including Microsoft Windows Active Directory (2008, 2012, 2016, and 2019), DFS, NAS/SAN storage architecture, VMware virtualization, and general server hardware.
    • MS Active Directory design, implementation, management, and maintenance.
    • MS Active Directory Group Policy Management of servers.
    • Experience using SolarWinds, ServiceNow, and other vendor-specific tools for technology assigned as a primary subject matter expert(SME).

    Qualifications

      Education & Years of Experience

      • Bachelor's Degree plus 2-5 years of work experience OR High School Diploma/GED plus 6-9 years of work experience

      Certifications

      • VCAP-DCV (Data Center Virtualization) preferred
      • VCAP-NV (Network Virtualization) preferred
      • VCAP-CMA (Cloud Management and Automation) preferred

      Work Environment / Physical Requirements

      • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.
      • Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
      • Team members may be asked to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. This position requires the ability to move equipment or packages up to 10 pounds. Team members may occasionally ascend/descend a ladder to service the lights and/or ceiling fans. Team members may also be asked to install or service equipment, including under desks, resulting in kneeling, stooping, or crouching.

        Pay Rate: $90,000 - $107,000 Salary

        Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
