The Chief Clinical Officer for AMN Healthcare is accountable for clinical quality, clinical leadership, and enterprise growth. Reporting to the CEO and serving on the CEO Committee, this executive leads our clinical delivery teams, owns clinical standards and care quality, leads AMN’s clinical brand internally and externally and embeds clinical excellence into how the organization operates and grows.
The CCO is an active partner in client management – participating directly in the sales process for major prospects, supporting the management of clinical relationships for current clients, leveraging external networks, and serving as a consultative clinical advisor to health systems. This role defines and operationalizes the clinician experience across the enterprise while strengthening industry relationships that drive long-term growth.
This position requires a credible clinical executive with operational discipline, commercial partnership mindset, strong clinical networks and authority to lead at scale.
Enterprise Clinical Quality, Governance & Care Delivery Excellence
- Provide executive oversight and accountability for regional clinical leader teams, ensuring high standards for clinical performance, professionalism, and effectiveness.
- Own the quality of clinical staff and clinical care delivery across the organization and for clients, with clear expectations, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement. Work closely with our clinical operations and credentialing teams to ensure a seamless, high quality experience.
- Establish, operationalize, and hold leaders accountable to consistent clinical governance, standards, and best practices.
- Translate clinical strategy into scalable, disciplined clinical leader processes that drive quality, consistency, and trust with clients.
- Serve as the executive authority on clinical matters, balancing quality, risk, and operational realities.
Revenue Growth Through Clinical Partnership & Commercial Enablement
- Partner closely with the commercial organization as an active participant in the sales and client development process, particularly for large, complex, and strategic opportunities.
- Leverage established health system and executive-level networks to develop, influence, and close major client relationships.
- Serve as a clinical executive peer and advisor to hospital and system leaders, bringing credibility and trust to commercial discussions.
- Drive revenue growth and long-term partnerships by embedding a consultative, clinically grounded approach into client engagement.
- Help shape deal strategy by aligning clinical value, quality, and outcomes to client needs and organizational growth objectives.
Enterprise Clinician Experience Strategy
- Own and articulate a clear point of view and enterprise framework for the clinician experience.
- Define how the clinician experience integrates across the organization—from operations to commercial strategy to clinical leadership.
- Translate clinician experience principles into practical, operational expectations for clinical leaders and teams.
- Ensure the clinician experience supports quality outcomes, engagement, retention, and growth—not as a concept, but as an executable model.
- Act as the executive steward for aligning clinician experience decisions with organizational priorities and performance.
Industry Influence, Health System Relationships & Thought Leadership
- Build and sustain high-impact relationships with hospital systems, health system executives, and clinical leaders across the industry.
- Drive growth through external partnerships and networks, positioning the organization as a trusted clinical and strategic partner.
- Represent the organization externally as a credible clinical leader and advisor, grounded in real care delivery and health system realities.
- Engage in selective thought leadership and industry participation that directly supports market credibility, relationship-building, and revenue strategy.
- Use industry presence to inform enterprise strategy, identify trends, and strengthen competitive positioning.
Qualifications & Experience

Doctoral degree required (e.g., DNP, PhD); MD/DO also considered
- Open to physician and nursing executive leaders; licenses Registered Nurse or physician background required.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level clinical functions, including responsibility for other senior clinical leaders.
- Proven success operating in an executive leadership role with enterprise-wide responsibility and impact.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with C-suite leaders at hospital systems or complex healthcare organizations at a senior executive level.
- Proven ability to influence executives, clients, and internal stakeholders through credibility, clinical expertise, and results.
- Comfort operating at the intersection of clinical quality, clinical operations, and revenue growth, including participation in strategic client development efforts.

Pay Rate: $437,000 - $520,000 Salary
Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
