Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting

Job Summary

    The Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting leads several aspects of the accounting team in the production of financial reports, maintenance of accounting records, leads auditing and reconciliation projects. In addition, the Senior Manager ensures team members are well-trained and receive ongoing career development, and partners across teams to lead the implementation of strategic and process improvement initiatives in alignment with the company's goals.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Serve as subject-matter expert in diverse technical revenue recognition topics such as lessor accounting, collaborations, special development projects, channel partner arrangements, and new product promotions.

    • Serve as an internal technical accounting resource during the contract negotiation process by analyzing the impact of “red flag” contract terms, communicating the revenue impact of such terms, and offering alternative structures, as available
    • Apply judgement to the application of complex revenue recognition rules on diverse sales arrangement with multiple performance obligations
    • Interface with finance, billing, sales reps, product marketing, legal, and customer solutions personnel to ensure a seamless Quotes-to-Cash cycle
    • Monitor revenue accounting activity to ensure compliance with GAAP revenue accounting policies and procedures
    • Maintain ownership of a series of balance sheet (unbilled receivables, contract assets, deferred revenue) and income statement (revenue, contra-revenue) accounts
    • Review fair value analyses for arrangements with multiple performance obligations
    • Lead training on revenue recognition rules, policies and practices to Sales and other departments within the organization
    • Manage the professional development of the corporate accounting team and exemplify the AMN leadership core competencies
    • Promote a positive teamwork enriched environment with increased employee engagement, and provide leadership, coaching, mentoring and day-to-day direction
    • Develop departmental initiatives and goals and the strategies to achieve those initiatives and goals Provide feedback on individual work performance and reallocate resources as needed
    • Develop, communicate, and enforce policies and procedures for required financial processes and prepare records necessary to safeguard assets and provide reliable financial information
    • Ensure that accounting functions are being performed as stated in company policy and in accordance with GAAP
    • Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed to comply with the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley
    • Manage the preparation, review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations by corporate accounting to ensure they are reasonable, accurate, appropriate and supported
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the guidelines set forth by GAAP and any accounting pronouncements as they apply to the Company Participate in the preparation of SEC required public company filings, including review of Footnote Disclosures in the 10Q and 10K prior to SEC filing to ensure the financial information presented accurately reflects the financial condition of the Company
    • Coordinate the accounting integration of acquisitions as required Manage corporate accounting projects and the team’s participation in company-wide projects Review contract summaries and accounting memos for accounting treatment as required Continually assess and make recommendations regarding process flows within the accounting department

      Education & Years of Experience

      • Bachelor's Degree in accounting plus 5-7 years of work experience
      • Minimum of 7 years general ledger accounting or audit experience and previous revenue management experience in a corporate environment are required.  
      • Significant experience in the application of ASC 606 revenue standard is required. 
      • Big 4 experience and/or experience within a public company is preferred and an active CPA license is highly preferred.


      • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Mandatory (Highly Preferred)

      Additional Experience

      • Familiarity with most accounting systems
      • Advanced level skills in Excel
      • Proficient with database analysis, and review of voluminous data
      • Prior leadership experience
      • Demonstrated ability for change management and process improvement
      • Proven management of revenue accounting function

      Work Environment / Physical Requirements

      • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.
      • Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

        Pay Rate: $133,000 - $158,000 Salary

        Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
